Adding web clips to Home screen
You can add frequently visited website to your Home screen and access it quickly without opening your browser. This is also known as web clip. Here is how you can do it:
- Open your browser and visit the website you want to add to your home screen.
- Bookmark it, assign a Label here.
- Open bookmark folder, then press and hold the Label for a few second. A menu will appear.
- Choose add to home screen.
Hide your folder
You may not always want to show all your files to everyone. Android gives you the option to hide your file. Hiding file is easy too.
- Create a new folder and put all your files you want to hide here.
- Choose to rename your folder and put "." in the beginning of the folder name and done.
[N.B: You can do this to your existing folder too]
Capture your Screen
Though there is no inbuilt Screen Capture button on android devices, it is pretty easy to capture screen and doesn't require any third party apps.
- On some devices press and hold Home button followed by Lock button for few seconds then left both the key, or on some other devices press and hold Lock key followed by Home button for a few second and left both the key.
- This will show up a message "Screen captured blah blah" and make a 'crank' sound.
- Check your gallery.
Restrict media files from Listing
Don't want to show your Photos, Songs, Videos in your Gallery, Music player, Video player or any third party media apps. Following trick will hide your media items.
- Browse to the location where your file is and you don't want to list.
- Create a new folder and name it ".nomedia" without double quote.
However you can check them from your file explorer.
[N.B: This works for media files only.
Caution: Don't create a .nomedia folder inside Home directory of memory card, it will list nothing in your Gallery, Music Player, Video Player]
Reboot your Phone
Some android phones have the option to Restart when you press Power key for a few second. This will give you a Menu to Shutdown, Restart etc.
On all other device you can press and hold Power Key for 10 seconds this will restart your phone.
[N.B: This works for media files only.
Caution: Don't create a .nomedia folder inside Home directory of memory card, it will list nothing in your Gallery, Music Player, Video Player]
