Moto E Review

Updated On 7/23/2014
Yesterday I received my Moto E, motorola's budget smartphone after ordering it from Flipkart. As of always Flipkart's service was outstanding, they delivered it in four days[delivery boy even called me on sunday to deliver it]. It is a bit strange that motorola is selling this device through flipkart only, you wouldn't find this device at your local phone stores.

If you don't know or have forgotten specs it packed with, I am mentioning it once again.

Specifications

Moto E comes with 1.2GHz dual core cortex A7 processor, 1GB RAM[0.89GB usable], 4GB ROM[2.21GB usable]. Apart from that, it has 1980mAh battery, 5MP camera[No flash], and 4.3inch LCD display with a resolution of 540X888 all at a price of ₹6999.

In the connectivity it supports 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0.

Moto E runs on stock version of android 4.4.2 kitkat, you can update it to 4.4.4.

Built quality of this device is extremely well and feels like a premium one. Display is protected by scratch resistant corning gorilla glass 3, with an additional anti-smudge coating.

Feature that are worth mentioning

  • No Lag - After updating from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4, I used for a whole day, and I am honestly saying there was no lag at all.
  • Battery Life - After recharging my device to 100% I used it for two days doing the following- surfing web, downloading apps from play store, transferring songs via Bluetooth, making a few calls. In the settings it shows display was on for 6 hours(approx) and my WiFi was on for this 6 hrs. Even after the heavy usage battery is still 24% remaining. I had only one sim installed though it supports dual sim, and brightness setting was set to auto during these period of my usage.
  • Camera - Only disadvantage of this phone. Camera is not good at all and I would rate it below average. So, don't get fooled by its megapixel size.
  • Others - Unlike any other device moto e has loud sound, quality is somewhat okay and smooth touch.
